Pamela Katherine Smith, age 77, of Sheboygan Falls, died on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was born in Sheboygan on February 28, 1949, to the late Jerome and Katherine (Pongratz) Holzschuh.
Pam attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Falls High School in 1967. She then furthered her education at Cardinal Stritch University, acquiring her bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1971. On September 5, 1981, she was united in marriage to Dennis Smith at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls.
Pam was an elementary school teacher in Milwaukee and at Christ Child Academy in Sheboygan for a brief time. She then took a position in Milwaukee at Jewish Vocational Services, and later the Milwaukee Center for Independence. Pam retired from there in 2005.
Pam was a member of many organizations which include, S.V.E.V. D’Oberlandler: Honorary Member, H.T.V. Stoaros’n: Honorary Member, B.G.T.E.V. D’Werdenfelser: Honarary Member, H.T.V D’Hochleitner Pullach E.v., Spielmannzug Milwaukee, Schlaraffia Milwaukia-Burgfrau, St. Vincent De Paul Society, and she was a lifelong member of the 4-H as well.
Pam was a union member and an outspoken activist in her heyday. She loved music, old time cars, gardening, and sewing. In her final years she spent her time teaching her grandkids how to bake or do various arts and crafts, as well as, offered the youngest ones “Grandma Kindergarten”.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis Smith; three children, Eugenio Smith (domestic partner, Jillian Johnson), Jeremy (AhReum) Smith, and Gretchen (Sven) Knothe; her four grandchildren, Katherine, Marianne, Leah, and Owen Smith; and her two sisters-in-law, Karen Carmody and Eileen “Corky” Merrill. Many cousins, other relatives, and close friends further survive. Pam was preceded in death by her loving parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, October 2, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 327 Giddings Ave., Sheboygan Falls. Family and friends may gather at the church on Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. until the time of Mass at 6:00 p.m.
