A major reforestation project is getting underway at the Wade House Historic Site. The Sheboygan Rotary Club’s ROOTS initiative, Wisconsin DNR and volunteers through the Sheboygan County United Way Day of Caring, National Exchange Bank & Trust, Johnsonville and the Kohler Company will plant a diverse mixture of 49 trees on Thursday, September 24th.
The effort follows the loss of about 85 percent of the Wade House forest to the invasive Emerald Ash Borer. The planting is the first phase of a multi-year effort to rebuild the property’s tree canopy, and has been made possible by support from the Kohler Trust for Preservation along with in-kind support from the City of Plymouth, which will supply mulch.
