City of Plymouth
A Special Committee of the Whole meeting in Plymouth on Tuesday resulted in continuing that city’s agreement with Flock Group, Inc. The meeting was done at the behest of the of the Plymouth Police Department proactively to provide information, answer questions, and receive feedback on the use of Flock technology in light of the numerous Wisconsin jurisdictions that have acted to end or adjust their use of the license-plate-reading cameras.
According to Chief of Police, Ken Ruggles, the information gathered has increased accuracy and shortened the time it takes to locate and identify suspects, and has been instrumental in solving multiple cases. He also said that safeguards and procedures were implemented to ensure against misuse of Flock data, and that there is no reason to believe that Flock data has been misused.
Following a presentation and discussion, the Committee of the Whole provided direction to continue the existing agreement, and to reevaluate in March or April prior to renewal of the contract.
