SHEBOYGAN, WI (WHBL) – The final report of the week from the Sheboygan County Division of Public Health showed a rise of 152 cases of the coronavirus since Thursday, 60 of those at Kettle Moraine Correctional Institution, which had reported a pause the previous day. 632 have now tested positive at KMCI, while the county total went up to 2,711. Of the 364 cases active, thirteen are hospitalized. With only 361 test results received in all on Friday, the positive rate came to 42.1%.
Wisconsin’s total COVID count now stands at 144,818 after 2,988 were added . With 14,822 test returns in all, that’s a positive rate of 20.15%. Sixteen were added to the death toll, now 1,440, and 138 persons entered the hospital for treatment of their symptoms. The Wisconsin DHS Dashboard of hospital statistics had not been updated as of the time of this report.
The Sheboygan County Safe Restart plan will remain in Phase Two for now. This has been the case since the first week of June. There was no week-to-week change in the benchmark criteria used to make that decision. The Sheboygan County School Risk Level Status will also remain at “High.” That’s based upon concern over the epidemiology and public health considerations that are measured, and the cautionary ranking of the ability of hospitals to treat all who need care without resorting to crisis standards.
The Wisconsin National Guard will be conducting an initial Community Testing Event at the Sheboygan County Fairgrounds from 10 AM until 6 PM both Wednesday and Friday, October 14th and 16th. Testing is free for anyone with symptoms of COVID-19, or who has had close contact with a confirmed positive case. Thereafter, recurring testing events will be held from 10 AM until 6 PM at the Sheboygan County Aging and Disability Resource Center at 605 Forest Avenue in Sheboygan Falls on Wednesdays, beginning October 21st, and on Fridays beginning October 23rd. Testing will also be free for the same conditions as above. Online registration was being made available through the daily updates published at sheboygancounty.com.
