David Henry Becker passed into the arms of his Lord on Sept. 10, 2026. He was born on February 6, 1946 to Arthur and Amelia (Lettler) Becker and was 80 years old.
He spent his childhood going to Kiel schools and graduated from Kiel High School. He studied and earned his cheesemakers license and later graduated from LTC with a degree in Supervisory Management.
On June 10, 1967 he married Phyllis Scheibl at Community UCC in Elkhart Lake. They were married for 59 yrs. Together they built a home in Elkhart Lake where they still reside. He was a member of Community UCC where he served several terms on the Consistory including 1 term as Vice President and 2 as President.
David was employed at Lake-to-Lake in Kiel for 10 years and from there worked at Sargento Foods for 38 years until retirement in 2010. He loved being outdoors in summer and he worked 11 years as sexton of Community’s 2 cemeteries.
He spent many hours on the flower gardens and lawn. He took great pride in his home. He also did many larger projects in the house. He built a deck in the backyard and converted the basement into a family room. He replaced the brick on the front of the house and with his sons help added a 4 seasons room on the back. His first large project was pool table.
David loved his family more than anything. He was survived by his wife Phyllis and his sons Brian (Carol Ortlieb his significant other) of Chilton, Phillip (Sue) of Hingham, Gary (Nadine) of Plymouth, and Jeffrey of Elkhart Lake and also had six grandchildren Kyle, Michael (Emi Tsuji), Jason, Cayden, Ambreah, and Beau Becker. He is further survived by a brother Arthur of Kiel, a brother-in-law, Dennis (Kristi) Scheibl of Sheboygan Falls and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was soon to be a great grandfather.
David was predeceased by his parents and in-laws Robert J. and Melvina Scheibl. David also lost sisters and brothers-in-laws Genevieve & Melvin Kleppen, Charolette & Melvin, Reseburg, Bernette & Elroy Loose, Merla & Carl Porazinski, a brother Paul & Pat Becker, and a sister Carol. He further lost 2 brothers-in-law Robert W. and James Scheibl.
David’s wishes were to be cremated and inurnment will be at St. Johns Cemetery in Elkhart Lake. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 19th, 2026 at the Suchon Funeral Home from 1:00pm-3:00pm; with a Memorial Service to follow at 3:00pm. Pastor Dale Miller will officiate. A Celebration of his Life will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family or Community United Church of Christ in Elkhart Lake.
