Work on the reconstruction of I-43 this week will be a continuation of last week’s tasks, with the heaviest work being done on the northbound collector and distributor ramps at Highway 23. The Highway PP overpass expansion joint replacement will also continue with temporary traffic signals controlling the flow on either end of the bridge.
The DOT said that drivers can expect nightly lane closures now through Friday, and pavement repair operations will limit travel to one lane in each direction between Highway 28 and Wilson Lima Road from 3 PM today through Thursday the 17th.
Daily lane closures are also planned Tuesday through Friday on eastbound and westbound Highway 23 in the I-43 work zone for installing sign bases.
Users of Highway 28 will now have access at Highway 57 with the completion of bridge replacement over the Onion River near Highway N. The length of the project from 57 eastward to I-43 will now use flagging operations while crews continue paving the lower lift of asphalt.
I-43 work should be complete by sometime in November, while Highway 28 should be done by late October.
