The Wisconsin State Patrol has announced another round of aerial surveillance of Wisconsin highways in an effort to reduce reckless driving and casualties on roadways.
Weather permitting, the State Patrol’s Air support Unit was scheduled to patrol the following highways:
Thursday, September 10
· I-94 – Eau Claire County
Friday, September 11
· WIS 57 – Door County
· US 53 – Washburn County
Saturday, September 12
· I-39/90/94 – Columbia County
· US 10 – Waupaca County
Sunday, September 13
· WIS 57 – Door County
The State Patrol emphasized that their primary mission was that of public safety by enforcing traffic laws to ensure drivers safely reach their destinations. By spotting violators from the air, a ground crew is notified to make the traffic stop. By announcing efforts in advance, the State Patrol states that their position is that voluntary compliance is preferable to simply stopping and citing drivers.
