Joan Guttenberg, 95, passed away with her daughter by her side on Sunday September 6, 2026, at Countryside Manor in Sheboygan. She was born to Gilbert Yahn and Nina Schmidt Yahn on February 5, 1931, in Jefferson Wi. She graduated from Jefferson High School in 1949 with her classmate Eugene Guttenberg. After graduation she was hired as Secretary to the Superintendent of Jefferson Public Schools. It was a job she enjoyed so much.
On May 14, 1955, she married Eugene Guttenberg in Marianna Florida. In 1956, they were stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield California. Their children, Joseph and Susan, were born there. Gene resigned from the Air Force in 1960, and they moved to Sheboygan and joined Immaculate Conception Church in that year.
Joan is survived her daughter Susan Guttenberg and daughter-in-law Connie Guttenberg both of Sheboygan. Joan is further survived by nieces and nephews Donald (Zoila) Yahn, Daryl Yahn, Michael (Mary) Yahn, Brian (Darlene) Yahn, Cynthia Yahn, Tom (Sherry) Gerondale, Todd (Lisa) Gerondale and James (Laura) Wedl.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eugene, son Joseph brother Donald Yahn, mother-in-law and father-in-law Evelyn and Raymond Guttenberg, sisters-in-law Jane Wedl and Ellen Gerondale and nephew David Yahn.
The family would like to thank Sharon Richarson Hospice staff and Countryside Manor staff for the tender care and respect they showed Joan while she was in their care.
There will not be visitation or public service. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Church in Sheboygan. Burial will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Fort Atkinson.
