Kenneth (Kenny) Karl Holzer, age 98 passed away peacefully at Sharon Richardson Hospice Center on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Kenny was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on March 8, 1928 to Rose Brack Holzer and Carl Holzer at home. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church and spent his elementary education there as well. As a child Kenny was a bat boy at Memorial Stadium (Legion Park) and enjoyed playing little league, where he won the fastest base runner contest in the county. Ken attended North High School in Sheboygan in 1946. He also entered the Navy in 1946, was stationed in China and served during World War II. Ken married Joyce Feldbusch on June 11, 1948 at St. Paul’s UCC in Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Kenny and Joyce continue to be members of St. Paul’s UCC since that time. Kenny worked at Kohler Co. for 40 years in the brass and polishing department. He retired in 1990 and enjoyed his retirement immensely. In addition to working at Kohler Co. Kenny was an avid and skilled roofer. He also enjoyed planting trees, notably his fruit tree orchard and the 10,000 tree conservation project. Dad helped build “the cottage” and spent all his able years there with his family fishing, boating and even waterskiing until age 75.
Kenny loved to travel. Bus trips to Habitat for Humanity builds were a favorite with friends. He also enjoyed Hawaii and returning to China, Joyce always by his side. Kenny enjoyed dart ball, his friend clubs, and always lending a helping hand. He was a member of the VFW 9156 for 41 years, was an Honor Guard and was also a member of UAW 833. As a World War II Veteran, he was honored to be chosen to spend a day in Washington DC on the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight, later resulting in a short video featuring Kenny and appearing in the motion picture Honor Flight, The Movie. Ken and his family spent lots of time in Nashville and North Carolina. He not only loved country music, but polka, waltz and especially 1940’s big band music. Kenny won many dance contests with his family and was always ready to dance. Grandpa also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren taking them on trips, teaching them his skills and of course playing ball. In his later years, Kenny enjoyed telling stories, reliving memories, and spending time with family, friends, neighbors, and his beloved, Joyce.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Joyce of 77 years, his children Renee, Randy, Rochelle and Rhonda: Renee Koschak (Matt) of Pfafftown, NC, Randy Holzer (Mary Jo) of Sheboygan Falls, WI, Rochelle Uhlig (Karl) of Clemmons, NC, and Rhonda Holzer Holland (former Bob) of Kohler, WI.
He will be lovingly remembered by 7 grand children: Zachary Holzer (Becky) of Sheboygan Falls, WI; Abigail Holzer Mazza (Joe) of Kohler, WI; Maggie Holzer Wallis (Ryan) of Fort Polk, LA; Monika Uhlig-Mitchell (Marc deceased) of Clemmons, NC; Max Uhlig (Angele) of Raleigh, NC; Robert (Bobby) Holland of Los Angeles, CA and Alexander Holland of Sheboygan, WI.
He is further remembered by 8 great-grand children: Isabella Holzer, Mathias Holzer, Jack Holzer, Mary Mazza, Rory Wallis, Magdalene Wallis, Ransom Wallis and Liam Uhlig. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, all of whom carry their own special memories of Kenny in their hearts.
Kenny was preceded in death by an infant son Kenneth K. Holzer, his parents Carl and Rose (Brack) Holzer, his in-laws, John and Nelda (Ebeling) Feldbusch,his sisters, Lois Holzer Ninmer (Jimmy) and Lillian Holzer Steinhaus (Wally) and his brother Carl P. Holzer (Janet).
Visitation will be held Friday, September 4, 2026 at Reinbold Novak Funeral Home located at 1535 South 12th Street, Sheboygan, WI from 3:00 – 4:00 pm, A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 pm with Fr. David Beaudry officiating, a Celebration of Life for Kenneth will follow the sevice. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lutheran Cemetery, Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Kenneth’s name to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight. Kenny’s greatest joy was his family, and those who knew and loved him are encouraged to carry forward the kindness, love and generosity that defined his life.
The family would also like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who provided love, care, and support to Kenny and the family. Special thanks to the nurses, aides, cooks and everyone who crossed the family’s path at Sharon Richardson Hospice Center who helped to make his final days peaceful and filled with dignity and care.
