State highways are likely to become congested at times during the Labor Day weekend, and in response the Wisconsin DOT is pausing most major road work in order to help keep traffic flowing. Still, the department said that significant construction projects could impact travel. In Sheboygan County, that would include the I-43 reconstruction between Highway 42 and Wilson-Lima Road.
According to Triple-A, peak travel times are expected from 2-7 PM Thursday, between noon and 8 PM Friday, and from 2-5 PM on Labor Day, Monday.
Motorists should always be prepared to encounter traffic changes when approaching work zones including reduced speed limits, lane shifts and slow or stopped traffic. For safety, drivers must buckle up & phone down – every trip, every time. Even when workers aren’t present, fines double for speed limit violations in work zones.
