Phyllis Ann Summers, age 82, of Sheboygan, died on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. She was born in Sheboygan on April 11, 1944, to the late Harold and Veona Paasch Gartman.
Phyllis attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1962. She was united in marriage to James W. Summers in 1967 at Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson.
Phyllis was employed at Borden’s Dairy Plant in Plymouth and worked on the family farm for all of her life. She was also a full-time homemaker and took immense pride in raising her four children.
She was a lifelong and active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in the Town of Wilson. Phyllis also was on the Town of Wilson Planning Commission for many years. She loved playing sheepshead, bingo, and going out to eat with her family and friends at Schwarz’s Supper Club in St. Anna. She enjoyed her church activities, working on the farm and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her four children, Steven (Rogelyn) Summers, of Milwaukee, Bennett (Denise) Summers, of Kiel, Anthony (Cheryl) Summers, of Oostburg, and Kristin Summers, of Two Rivers; six grandchildren, Alyssa (Zack) Purser, Courtney (Tony) Haen, Emily Summers, Solomon Summers, Mariah Carr (fiancé Blake Kellner), and Angelica Summers; a brother, Mark (Carol) Gartman, of Sheboygan; and her sister, Ruth Schultz of Wood River, IL. Many other relatives and friends survive. Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother-in-law, Martin Schultz, and her aunt, Lorraine Grunwald.
A funeral service for Phyllis will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6522 S. Business Dr., Sheboygan. Family and friends may gather at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to staff at Songbird Pond Assisted Living in Plymouth for their compassion, care and made her feel like family during her time there. Phyllis’s family would like to thank the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for their care as well. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Phyllis’s name will donated to Trinity Lutheran Church and Songbird Pond Assisted Living in Plymouth.
