The kids are headed back to school this week with Oostburg classes beginning today, and the remaining Sheboygan County school districts following suit on Tuesday. With the resumption of classes, educators statewide say that social media remains one of the biggest concerns for youth mental health.
Wisconsin Office of Children’s Mental Health Director Linda Hall says online pressures can follow students around the clock. She stated, “I think social media would be the number one thing because some kids are spending a lot of time on it, too much time. And that pressure, that social media pressure happens not just at school, it goes on all night long, and it’s also been a place where cyber bullying has emerged.”
