WAUPUN, WI (WSAU) – Two inmates have died from COVID-19 at the Dodge County Correctional Institution. They both died in September.
The State Department of Corrections did not report the deaths because of privacy laws.
The medical examiner says both of the deceased inmates had contributing health factors. One of the inmates, a 63-year-old, died on September 12th. The other inmate, a 62-year-old, had COVID when he died of lung cancer, when he died on September 15th.
Wisconsin had seen widespread Coronavirus cases in prisons. Most of the outbreaks are in Kettle Moraine and Oshkosh. About 20-percent of the cases involve guards and staff. As of last week 175 cases are considered active, with 10 requiring hospitalization.
