Rain and freezing coated many roadways in Sheboygan and surrounding counties overnight, and motorists are advised to exercise caution until temperatures warm later this morning.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 9 AM for counties from Sauk to Ozaukee and northward, including Sheboygan County. Although little or no ice accumulation is expected, temperatures are narrowly either side of freezing in much of the area and the DOT’s 511 Road Map shows partially covered roads throughout the region. Despite that, driving speed isn’t slowing that much, and a check with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office revealed no problems as of 4 AM.

Wisconsin 511 Road Map as of 4 AM Thursday
Expect the most trouble on elevated surfaces such as overpasses and ramps. By mid morning, those conditions should abate and attention will turn to severe weather possibilities later today.
