Within 24 hours after the announcement that current Republican Wisconsin Senator Devin LeMahieu would not seek reelection, former Republican Representative Amy Binsfeld has entered the race to replace him. Binsfeld had represented State Assembly District 27 before redistricting, and then lost to Democrat Joe Sheehan in the newly-configured District 26 general election in 2024.
Binsfeld, a lifelong Sheboygan resident, cites her background in business and community involvement that she said “…has shaped her commitment to practical, commonsense leadership that puts people first.”
If another Republican enters the field, Binsfeld will be facing a primary contest in August, and if she passes that step, would move on to the General Election in November.
