HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital
by Kevin Zimmermann
One major concern of postpartum care is being relieved in part with the establishment of a mother’s milk depot and repository at HSHS St. Nicholas Hospital. It’s a joint venture between St. Nicholas and the Mothers’ Milk Bank of the Western Great Lakes, and is the only such facility in Sheboygan County.
Located in St. Nick’s Women and Infants Center, the facility serves the dual purpose of having pasteruized donor milk readily available to infants hospitalized at the facility, and makes pasteurized donor milk available to the public for purchase. All donor milk is tested and pateurized by the Mothers’ Milk Bank based in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
St. Nicholas will also accept donations of breast milk once the donor has been pre-screened. More information is available through this link.
