As a winter storm continues to evolve, the changes have meant warnings, rather than advisories, for Sheboygan County. The Winter Storm Warning is now in effect until 4 PM Monday for heavy mixed precipitation, with total snow and sleet accumulations between 4 and 7 inches, and with ice accumulations between 1 tenth and a quarter inch. Winds will be gusting as high as 45 MPH.
Thunderstorms and rain were moving into the area by 10 this morning, and while many roads were just wet in the south half of the county, rapid icing is expected this afternoon as we remain on the cold side of the system. Above ground, the heavy, wet precipitation will increase the risks of falling tree limbs and downed power lines.
Travel is expected to become difficult, and persons are being urged to stay indoors until conditions improve on Monday.
