A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued by the National Weather Service, affecting counties from Sheboygan both north and westward from 1 AM until 1 PM on Wednesday. Concerns center around a wintry mix of precipitation that may cause slushy roads and slick travel. Before that, though, there’s a threat of thunderstorms to be dealt with.

NWS Graphic
There’s a marginal risk for severe weather in Sheboygan, Fond du Lac and Ozaukee Counties among others due to risks from hail and lightning most likely to occur here between 7 and 11 PM today. The best chances of seeing hail of 1-inch or larger diameter are along and south of I-94. Some storms may produce heavier rain, but in general around 1/3-1/2 inch can be expected. But after 1 AM the chance of freezing rain and drizzle with snow becomes a risk that will persist until 1 PM Wednesday. Snow accumulation should be less than an inch.

NWS Graphic
Thursday brings a break in precipitation, while cold rain and possible very light snow returns overnight into Friday. Attention then turns to a long-duration wet snow event, sometimes mixed with rain lasting from Saturday morning until midday Monday according to current forecasts.
