James “Jim” Robert Markelz passed away March 6, 2026.
He was born to Robert & Jane Markelz on December 19, 1958 in Sheboygan.
Jim grew up in Sheboygan, attending area schools and graduating from South High class of 1977. He worked various jobs, often 2 at a time, most notably at Torke Coffee and Seven-Up/Dr. Pepper.
In his early years, Jim enjoyed concerts, traveling, throwing darts, snowmobiling, and spending time with friends. As he became a father, he loved nothing more than spending time with his two daughters; ice skating, camping, fishing, hunting, and at their cabin in Crivitz. He was always there for his “little” girls and couldn’t speak enough of them. He was just as excited when he was promoted to Grandpa.
His sarcasm and humor was legendary, and he always enjoyed a cold beer. He will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his daughters, Julia (Adam) Schmitz and Natalie Markelz; grandchildren, Addison, Everett, Genevieve & Lincoln Schmitz; father, Robert Markelz; brother, Peter (Karen) Markelz; sisters, Roberta (Gary) Meyer & Sarah (Tom) Resch. Jim was further survived by nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his mother, Jane; grandparents, Anton & Mary Markelz and Frederick “Fritz” & Esther Wedemeyer.
Honoring Jim’s wishes, no funeral services will be held. Family will have a private celebration of life at a later date.
