Jacqualine (Jackie) Ungrodt, 81 years old) passed away peacefully while surrounded by family on Friday, March 6, 2026, at her home in Kiel. Born on April 25, 1944, to a military family in San Diego, Jackie grew up in Madison. As a toddler, she would fondly recall swimming in the ocean alongside Navy Seals. After graduating high school, she worked part-time while attending the University of Wisconsin Madison, where she met and later married James Ryan Ungrodt, who was pursuing a Juris Doctorate at the time. The couple relocated to Kiel in 1972, where Jackie continued her education, taking evening classes and earning a paralegal certification to help with her husband’s burgeoning law practice.
Jackie was an avid reader and served several years on the Kiel Library Board. She enjoyed gardening, as well as traveling and playing bridge with her husband and friends. She also loved cooking, sharing her recipes with friends and family, and was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church in New Holstein.
Jackie is survived by her two sons, Tim (Kimberly) Ungrodt and Chris (Lisa) Ungrodt, and her two grandsons, Lucas Ungrodt and Dylan Ungrodt (fiancé, Kyla Gordon).
In addition to her parents, Jackie was preceded in death by her husband, James Ungrodt.
A memorial service for Jackie will be held on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 9:00 a.m. The service will be held at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt-DeTroye Funeral Home (815 6th Street, Kiel), with Rev. Don Krause officiating. Please visit www.meiselwitzfh.com to send online condolences.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established to support Zion Lutheran Church.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, as well as Jackie’s close neighbors and friends for all the love and care they provided.
