Those in low-lying areas prone to flooding in the Sheboygan County area will want to keep a cautious eye on the weather as several rounds of rain could add up to an inch or more falling statewide beginning this morning.
First, though, the fog is limiting visibility to between a half and a quarter mile or less over much of eastern Wisconsin which is covered by a dense fog advisory until 9 AM. To our advantage, temperatures are well above freezing in our part of the state.

NWS Graphic
An area of rain and thunderstorms was entering the state from the southwest early this morning and, between 7 AM and noon, should be light in general except in thunderstorms. But another round follows soon after and could add another quarter inch…but significantly more with any embedded storms that, by this afternoon, could include some hail.
A generous break between 5 and 10 PM will be followed by another overnight round of rain and thunderstorms, but now with the added threats of damaging wind and a few tornadoes, with the tornado risk potential at a level of 1 out of 5 here, but higher to our southwest.

NWS Graphic
Rain totaling up to as much as an inch-and-a-half could result in water ponding on frozen ground and rises in streams and rivers, a factor that will be closely watched until runoff is complete and quiet, springlike weather takes over Saturday into early next week.
