A 52-year-old Oakfield man is recovering from a hangover – and serious injuries after a violent crash in Fond du Lac County on Wednesday afternoon.
The accident happened when the vehicle, northbound on Highway 45 just north of the Village of Waucousta missed a curve, striking a driveway embankment and sending the vehicle airborne before overturning and coming to rest. The driver and lone occupant suffered serious injuries and Flight for Life took him to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah for treatment.
A two-mile stretch of Highway 45 had to be shut down for about 45 minutes for cleanup and investigation, which suggests that speed and alcohol were factors. The man was also issued his 3rd OWI as a result.
