The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office has reposted a Social Media “True Crime 608” Facebook entry concerning a cold case that occured nearly 10 years ago. The post refers to July 3 of 2016 when a 911 call report of striking someone in the roadway in the Town of Rhine led to the discovery of the deceased, Shawn Kaufert. But investigators determined that Kaufert had already passed some three hours before the caller struck him.
Efforts continue to get information from anyone who’d been traveling on County road P, just north of County Road A in the Town of Rhine during the early morning of July 3, 2016. Anyone who may have driven that road, seen someone on the road, or anything unusual between 1-4:30 AM that day is encouraged to contact Sheboygan Countywide Crimestoppers at 1-877-283-8436.
