Michael W. Meyer, age 78, formerly of Sheboygan Falls, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026.
Born on July 14, 1947, in Lancaster, WI, Michael was the son of the late Elmer and Leila (Bast) Meyer. He grew up in Lancaster, where he graduated from Lancaster High School in 1965. He went on to further his education at Madison Technical School (now Madison College).
On July 13, 1968, Michael married the love of his life, Marla Hasenstein, at Zion United Church of Christ in a ceremony filled with joy and promise. Together, they built a loving home and shared nearly 58 years of marriage.
Michael had a genuine passion for sports and the outdoors. He loved playing baseball and golf, enjoyed trap shooting, deer hunting, and bowling. He was an active member of the Sheboygan Softball Association and the Koenigs Conservation Club, where he made lifelong friends and created countless memories on the field, course, and range. He and Marla also cherished traveling with their longtime friends Mike and Judy Thun—adventures he and Marla enjoyed together, sharing laughs, new experiences, and good times over the years.
Michael was a devoted family man, cherished husband, father, brother-in-law, and uncle. He is survived by his loving wife, Marla; his daughter, Michelle (David) Schoenherr of West Bend; his son, Marc (Sara) Meyer of Sheboygan Falls; a sister-in-law, Mary Meyer of West Salem; Marla’s brother and sister-in-law, Tom and Sue Hasenstein of Chandler, Arizona; and many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss his warm smile, kind spirit, and enthusiasm for life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Leila Meyer; his brother, Jerry Meyer; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Marvin and Laverne Hasenstein.
A private graveside service will be held at Wildwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to a charity close to Michael’s heart, such as the Koenigs Conservation Club or a local youth sports program.
