LaVern M. Schreurs, 96, formerly of Cedar Grove and Sheboygan Falls, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday morning, February 26, 2026 at Golden Years in Walworth where she had resided the last 5 years.
LaVern was born November 13, 1929 in Cedar Grove, the daughter of Henry and Ella (Huisheere) Rauwerdink. She graduated from Cedar Grove High School in 1947. On May 6, 1949, she was united in marriage with Myron Schreurs in Cedar Grove. They raised 3 daughters, and she worked alongside Myron as they farmed, ministered in Minnesota and Texas, and were caretakers at Rochester Springs in Sheboygan Falls. Myron preceded her in death in 2006.
The couple formerly attended the Sheboygan eFree Church, and LaVern was a founding leader of Pioneer Girls in Cedar Grove; each girl was valued, and LaVern left a lasting imprint on their lives.
A skilled seamstress who lovingly made each of her daughter’s wedding dresses, LaVern enjoyed all variations of crafting from knitting and crocheting to tatting and jewelry making. She also loved bird watching.
LaVern is survived by her daughters: Mary (Bill) Wymer, Joan (Doug) Wise, and Bonnie (Al) Stankevitz; four grandchildren, Tammy (Slade) Harvin, Julie (Joshua) Woodall, Jonathan (Katie) Stankevitz and Sarah Stankevitz; seven great-grandchildren: Evelyn, Laura, Kaitlyn, Allie, Riley, Morgan and Tyler; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
LaVern was preceded in death by her sisters Marion (Maurice) Drier and Lorraine (Robert) Fons, and her Schreurs brothers- and sisters-in-law.
