Supplies of life-saving blood and platelets continue to be strained, and the American Red Cross is looking for donors to help fix that. They’re also going to help people maintain their health by providing free A1C testing for donations during March. Elevated A1C is a condition that 1 in 5 donors already experience as a result of diabetes or prediabetes. Monitoring checks the average level over a three-month period and it doesn’t require fasting. Besides the A1C test, donors of blood, platelets or plasma in March will receive a $15 Amazon Gift Card by mail.
