“Tonight I’m proud to say that the state of our city is strong, and is getting stronger.” With those words, Mayor Ryan Sorenson summed up his annual State of the City address during Monday night’s Sheboygan Common Council meeting, crediting City employees for their dedication, and the community at large for its hard workers, innovators, entrepreneurs, artists, educators and families.
Sorenson quickly acknowledged the challenges faced by those seeking affordable housing, calling the issue crucial to stability, and pointed to the many developments already done and those still underway. Other highlights included significant road and park projects, and the intent of the City of Sheboygan to purchase and preserve the north Lighthouse.
Sorenson concluded his nearly 20-minute address with hope and thanks, saying that: “Sheboygan is more than just a place on a map; it’s a community of people who care, who show up, who choose to invest and raise their family here. Together, we’re writing the next chapter of our city’s story, and I know it’s a hopeful one. Thank you for your commitments to our great city, thank you everyone in your partnerships. We have so much more work to do. Thank you again, and God bless our beautiful City of Sheboygan.”
