Patricia “Pat” S. (Becker) Batter, 71, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, February 15, 2026, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice after a nearly two-year bout with renal cancer. She was born June 28, 1954, in Milwaukee to the late Leonard and Betty Jane (Pochert) Becker. Pat graduated from Sheboygan South High School with the Class of 1972, moved to southern Florida, and went on to receive her ADN nursing degree from Miami-Dade Community College in 1982. She served as a registered nurse in southern Florida for 30 years, primarily as a medical-surgical nurse and nursing supervisor.
On July 2, 2006, she was united in marriage to Charles “Charlie” E. Batter in Sheboygan and lived in Fort Lauderdale. While vacationing as newlyweds in Venice, Florida, Pat noticed a dolphin swimming in the Gulf, prompting her to tell Charlie that it was a sign to move there. Soon thereafter, Pat and Charlie moved to their anticipated “forever” home.
However, after Pat’s mom suffered a stroke, Pat and her husband Charlie decided to sell their home in sunny Florida and move to Sheboygan in order to provide support. Using her nursing, advocacy, and caregiving skills, Pat made her mother’s life wonderful again. Pat’s siblings saw it as a sacrifice, but not Pat, who did it out of love and the goodness of her boundless heart. After the passing of her mom, Pat supported her father similarly, where she enriched his final years, bringing him joy and happiness.
Pat loved her many friends, both human and animals. She was an active member of several groups including: TOPS, the Lakeshore Garden Club, the Sheboygan County Democratic Party, and the Kettle Moraine Corvette Club. She had many fur babies over the years, the most recent being Lexi and Cooper, both of whom loved to protect her from the many birds, deer, squirrels, etc. that she fed year-round. Pat was also an avid reader, gardener, traveler, and jigsaw puzzle enthusiast.
Most importantly, Pat loved life, her family, and her many friends. She was/is a kind soul.
Pat is survived by her husband Charlie, sister Barbara Shangraw of Centennial, CO; brothers, Wayne (Samatha) Becker of Vail, CO; and Marty Becker of Sheboygan. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Pat was preceded in death by her parents.
Finally, a special thank you goes out to the angelic staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, who made her last days of life as comfortable as possible. A Celebration of Pat’s Life will be held at a later date.
