With growing demand for a skilled workforce, eight Howards Grove High School students will be putting just such skills on the line against over 430 other competitors from 41 high schools across Wisconsin next week. The event is the final 2026 regional competition of job skills that eventually lead to finals at the 53rd annual Wisconsin SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference in Madison in April. But first the Tiger team needs to compete on Thursday and Friday, February 26-27 at the UW-Stout in Menomonie.
Competition involves a wide variety of job skills such as entrepreneurship, medical math and terminology, 3-D printing and design, cabinetmaking and carpentry, even robotics and video production…the full list is far-ranging.
Besides competing to be crowned the one most skilled and prepared to enter the workforce, a Future-Ready Workforce Summit will be held at lunchtime with area business leaders, human resource directors, and recruiters from across Wisconsin meeting to discuss the challenges of finding and recruiting skilled employees, and how SkillsUSA Wisconsin can partner with organizations and school districts to provide a pipeline of skilled and qualified future workers.
Competition judging takes place from 11 AM until 12:30 PM, with the winners to be announced during the awards ceremonies at 1 PM Daily.
