You’ll probably hear them but you’d be hard-pressed to see the 115th Fighter Wing of F-35 jets out of Truax Field in Madison as they conduct exercises overhead this week.
The squad says that they’ll be conducting evening training flights now through Thursday. You’ll likely hear the F-35 aircraft overhead between sunset and 7:45 PM as they traverse the area to Lake Michigan where the air space can be closed to commercial and civilian traffic while the crews practice.
The Guard said that they normally practice during daylight hours, but pilots and maintenance personnel are required to conduct nighttime operations as part of their overall readiness.
