A crash between a van and a pickup truck took the life of one person on Monday while another was not injured.
The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office was summoned to Highway 26 at Cottonwood Avenue, about 5 miles south of Oshkosh shortly after 1 PM where the two vehicles had collided. The 79-year-old Oshkosh man operating the van was pronounced deceased at the scene despite life-saving measures. The 19-year-old Oshkosh man driving the pickup truck wasn’t injured. As a result of the incident, Highway 26 was closed for some 5 hours while the accident was cleaned up.
The events leading up to the accident remain under investigation.
