It’s been a deadly year on Washington County roads as their 7th traffic fatality of 2025 was recorded on Friday.
Multiple 911 calls came in shortly before 11 AM after a van apparently slammed at highway speed into a semi stopped to make a turn at the intersection of Division and Spring Valley Roads in the Town of Jackson.
Upon impact, the van caught fire with the driver trapped inside, and despite rescue efforts the vehicle became fully engulfed in flames, ending hopes that the lone occupant, a 30-year-old Milwaukee man, could be saved. The semi driver, a 55-year-old Illinois resident, was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.
The crash remains under investigation by the Washington County Reconstruction Unit and the Medical Examiner’s Office.
