Wisconsin State Senator Devin Lemahieu
A Special Committee on Oversight of the Department of Justice was announced Monday by Senate Majority Leader Devin LeMahieu of Oostburg. Four Republicans were named to the committee by LeMahieu, while the two remaining seats will be filled at the recommendation of the Senate Minority Leader, Democrat Dianne Hesselbein of Middleton.
The committee will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the operations, priorities, and external influences affecting the Wisconsin Department of Justice, and is tasked with issuing a final report and recommendations by April 14th, 2026.
LeMahieu said that the goal is to ensure that the DOJ is operating within its statutory authority and serving the public interest, and not the agenda of third parties or outside organizations.
