A snowmobile operator who failed to negotiate a turn had to be flown for hospital treatment after he crashed. The injured man was able to call authorities after he struck a tree at high speed and was thrown some 30 feet from the snowmobile.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office sent deputies to a trail about 2 miles southwest of the Fond du Lac city limits at around 12:45PM Monday. They were joined by Oakfield Fire Department members who used their UTV to locate and transport the operator back to the roadway. From there, Flight for Life took the 69-year-old Fond du Lac man to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Officials say the man was wearing a helmet and chest protector.
