The first blast of arctic air has arrived in the Sheboygan area, driving temperatures into the single digits and wind chills to subzero levels overnight.
Snow that was forecast to accompany the air’s arrival didn’t materialize. And although some very light snow Friday and Saturday nights might provide a dusting, those looking for more substantial snow in the range of a few inches may have to wait until midweek next.
Temperatures will leave no doubt that winter has arrived well before the December 21st Winter Solstice – the shortest day of the year. Whereas normal temps would provide highs in the mid-upper 30s and lows in the low 20s, we expect more January-like weather with highs in the teens-low 20s and lows in the single digits to 10 above for the time being.
For those looking for more tolerable conditions, it appears you’ll have to wait as temperatures aren’t expected to break the freezing mark until perhaps a week down the line.
