Hunters harvested fewer deer during Wisconsin’s 2025 9-day gun deer season, a trend that was mirrored in Sheboygan County.
During this year’s 9-day hunt, 1,627 deer were registered in Sheboygan County, with 726 antlered and 891 antlerless deer comprising that total. Within the Sheboygan Metro Subunit, 68 antlered and 59 antlerless deer, totaling 127, were harvested.
Last year a total of 1,910 deer were taken in Sheboygan County, nearly 300 more than this year’s harvest.
Preliminary data shows a statewide harvest of 182,084 deer registered this season, down 0.8% statewide, with the antlered harvest down 2.6%, and the antlerless harvest up 0.9%.
While there were two gunshot incidents reported this year, that’s still a relatively low frequency of accidents. One of those was a fatality resulting from an armed, 24-year-old hunter who apparently suffered an accidental discharge while navigating a tree stand in Fond du Lac County on November 22nd. On the same day, a non-fatal wound was suffered by a 57-year-old man hunting in Grant County.
