14 skiers had to be rescued when the chair lift they were riding stopped due to a power outage.
Sunburst Ski Hill in Kewaskum called the Washington County Sheriff’s Office shortly after 5:30 PM Sunday after they suffered the partial outage, stranding the riders on the lift. Staff and Ski Patrol were already working on getting the riders down, but requested additional manpower from the Kewaskum Fire Department.
Within an hour of getting the call, the various crews were able to assist all individuals to the ground using the on-site rope rescue systems. And although medical assessments were done immediately, no one needed attention.
Sunburst said that the ski lift will be inspected before being put back into service.
