A barn was damaged, but not destroyed thanks to the quick efforts of multiple responders on Sunday. The fire struck at about 12 noon in a barn on Decorah Road in the Town of Trenton between Newburg and West Bend. The caller reported hearing an explosion before seeing smoke and flames coming from the structure.
The Newburg Fire Department elevated the fire to the box level, bringing in departments from West Bend, Fillmore, Boltonville, Port Washington, Grafton, Saukville, Belgium, Cedarburg, Jackson, Waubeka, Fredonia, St. Lawrence, and Slinger.
The first-on-the-scene Newburg firefighters quickly brought the blaze under control, containing the fire to the lower portion of the structure, but not until after about $75,000 damage had been done.
Investigators say the cause of the fire does not appear to be suspicious, and there were no injuries.
