As if on cue, wintery weather is predicted to coincide with Winter Weather Awareness Week in Wisconsin. The observance is jointly sponsored by the State of Wisconsin Emergency Management team and the National Weather Service Offices that serve the state. Fortunately, tonight’s event should be a gentle introduction to what can otherwise be a brutal season.

Rain and snow will move in from the southwest this evening, likely not reaching Sheboygan County until midnight or later, and with only a chance that snowflakes will mix in during the early-to-late morning hours. Although inland parts of Sheboygan County could see minor buildup, it’s more likely that west-central areas like the Wisconsin Dells, Portage and Columbus experience slushy accumulations that could affect Tuesday morning commuters.

Closer to home, what falls here should be mostly rain as overnight temperatures near freezing eventually rise to around 40, with cold, dry conditions setting in by Tuesday night.
