A tip concerning a stolen vehicle in Fond du Lac County turned into a long list of charges for an already-wanted offender. Reports of the stolen vehicle traveling north on I-41 went out shortly before 8 AM Thursday. A state trooper soon spotted the vehicle about six miles south of the City of Fond du Lac on I-41 and began a traffic stop, bringing the suspect to a slow stop a few miles down the road. That ended within seconds after a Sheriff’s Deputy arrived, prompting the suspect to flee.
The ensuing chase of about 3 miles ended when the suspect struck an uninvolved motorist near Highway 23. The suspect exited the vehicle soon after being surrounded and was arrested. A search revealed about 2-1/2 ounces of suspected meth, a pistol reported stolen from Missouri, other weapons and paraphernalia.
Two victims of the crash sustained minor injuries, and West Johnson Street was closed for about an hour for cleanup.
The man who had several active warrants and a criminal history dating back nearly 20 years will likely face more time if found guilty of the 11 new charges against him.
