A condominium under construction in the Town of Grafton collapsed on Friday morning, trapping one and injuring another two workers who were on site.
According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, they responded to the report of the collapse in the 300 block of North Port Washington Road at around 9:45 AM Friday.
Workers were securing wooden roof trusses when the north wall of the construction bowed, prompting a partial collapse of the roof. Workers on that roof fell some 16 feet with all three sustaining on-life-threatening injuries. One of those became trapped under the debris.
Responders from the Ozaukee Central Fire Department cut through trusses to free the trapped worker, and all three were taken to Froedtert Hospital in Wauwatosa for treatment.
The cause of the collapse is under investigation by Town of Grafton Residential and Commercial Building Inspectors along with staff from OSHA.
