A network tasked with tracking firearms involved in crimes has identified a convicted-felon shooter as being involved in a second incident involving guns.
US Attorney for the Eastern District of Wisconsin Richard Frohling made the case against 42-year-old Jason Evans, formerly of Appleton, who had already been convicted of a felony.
An investigation was launched after responders to a disturbance call found Evans kicking the head of a woman lying face-down in a pool of blood in Appleton on Christmas Day in 2024. Evans was arrested and four firearms were seized from him – weapons he wasn’t supposed to possess. After being sent to the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network, one of the guns was tied to a handgun used on occupied vehicles following a verbal altercation on November 1st of that year. Further investigation revealed Evans as that shooter.
Senior US District Judge William Griesbach sentenced Evans to 10 years in federal prison as a result of his conviction.
