Whistling Straits Pro David Bach of Sheboygan took home a trophy and also punched a ticket to the PGA Professional Championship scheduled for April at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon. Bach broke a tight margin that prevailed for most of the tournament to finish by five strokes over the challengers at the Ozaukee Country Club on Tuesday.
Bach finished with two rounds of 66 to finish at 132, eight under par, and good for a $4,380.00 prize. Davis Jensen of North Shore Country Club finished at three under, tying Jim Schuman of the Blue Mound Golf & Country Club to earn $2,915.00 each. Michael Nagy of PTC Wisconsin and Mick Smith of Mick Smith Golf each finished two under to earn $1,875.00 apiece.
Bach dropped two birdies on the back nine Tuesday to earn his second 4-under 66 in the contest, results that Bach called “very meaningful” in light of the PGA of America repercussions. He said that “This is a tournament that I have circled, and it means a lot to me. And I couldn’t be more excited to be heading over to Bandon.”
