Three persons are safe on land after their small airplane went down in Lake Michigan on Thursday afternoon.
The plane reported trouble to the Chicago Air Route Traffic Control Center who relayed the problem to the US Coast Guard Station Milwaukee who immediately sent their 45-foot rescue boat to locate three men who used their cell phones to text Milwaukee first responders with their position. The aircraft also had an emergency locator transmitter that worked long enough before the plane sank to the bottom, and the Coast Guard took the men safely to shore.
