A home just south of the village of Campbellsport in Fond du Lac County was destroyed by fire early Thursday morning.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office received the 911 call from the homeowner at around 4:21 AM, reporting that their home on Century Drive was on fire with flames coming out the windows, and that everyone had safely escaped.
A response from multiple agencies began immediately and the first on the scene found the building totally engulfed in flame. Fire Departments from Campbellsport, Eden, Mount Calvary, Beechwood, Kewaskum, Lomira, Cascade, Kohlsville and Brownsville extinguished fire on the structure, which was declared a total loss.
The homeowner was treated at a local hospital for minor injuries. Of two family cats, one was found safe and the second is unaccounted for.
No immediate determination has been made as to the cause, which is being investigated by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.
