Another high speed chase – the second since Wednesday – led Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputies to the arrest of an Illinois man with nobody being injured.
It was just after 1 AM this morning when a Sheriff’s Deputy clocked a vehicle traveling at 88 MPH in the Town of Byron on I-41. The driver accelerated once he was followed by the lights and siren, reaching over 130 MPH before exiting onto Highway 151, running a red light, and then re-entering the interstate.
The suspect again topped speeds of 130 MPH before finally pulling over and surrendering after ending the 5-mile pursuit.
The Illinois man is now in the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of felony fleeing and eluding an officer, as well as for possession of THC.
In an earlier chase on Wednesday night, deputies in the Village of Rosendale tried a traffic stop that prompted the driver to flee at high speed on County Road “M”. After losing sight of the vehicle it was found unoccupied in a ditch near the intersection of Highway 23 and Rose-Eld Road. The suspects evaded a K9 and drone search, but a second vehicle registered to the suspect was spotted eastbound on 23 and stopped by deputies who took the 24-year-old female driver into custody along with two male passengers.
A significant amount of narcotics was found in the car, and the three were booked on numerous drug and crash-related charges.
