National Weather Service forecasters charged with advance notice of problematic weather are challenged this weekend in that what happens next depends on what happened before…and that process is just beginning.

Storms north of a line from about LaCrosse to Green Bay largely matched predictions so far, and assuming this sets an accurate stage for the rest of today, Sheboygan County will most likely experience showers and thunderstorms to affect much – but not necessarily all – of the area especially between 2 and 4 PM, and again between 6 and 8 this evening. However, confidence isn’t that high when pinpointing exactly which areas are most likely to receive the rain. Besides the one or two rounds before dark, another round could develop late this evening and overnight.
Temperatures will be in the upper 70s to around 80 during the day, with low tonight remaining in the upper 60s, and humidity will be high. Although those are conditions ripe for storm formation, widespread severe weather isn’t anticipated, but there is concern that storms could “train” overnight, repeatedly dumping rain over the same area. Given saturated ground from recent rain, that could pose a threat of flooding for areas already reeling from activity a week ago.

The atmosphere will remain favorable for more showers and storms Sunday and Monday, but that’s highly dependent upon what happens over the next 24 hours, so the word is: keep up with the forecasts.
