It took several fire departments, but the combined forces helped save a home near West Bend on Wednesday afternoon.
The Washington County Communication Center got the 911 call from the owner of a home on Beaver Dam Road in the Town of Barton, immediately west of the City of West Bend at around 1:30 Wednesday, reporting that smoke was found in the attic of the house. Washington County deputies and the West Bend Fire Department were dispatched, and upon arrival they called for help from the Jackson, Kewaskum, St. Lawrence, Newburg and Allenton Fire Departments.
All occupants were able to safely exit the building and the fire was contained to the bathroom and attic, with minor fire and smoke damage resulting.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
