Two Keshena area women are behind bars in Fond du Lac County following a chase of over 10 miles this morning.
Events began with an equipment violation stop attempt by a K-9 Deputy on I-41 near County Highway “B” a little before 9:30. As the deputy caught up to the vehicle at an interchange the driver turned north on Highway 151 and failed to obey a traffic signal. The deputy initiated a traffic stop, but the driver fled instead, disregarding emergency lights as it turned onto Camelot Drive, and briefly stopped in the lane of traffic on Police Memorial Drive. A deputy observed the two women change their places in the front seat just before making a sudden acceleration, leading deputies on a high-speed chase.
The vehicle made its way south onto 151, and when deputies figured that they’d return to northbound I-41, another squad was waiting and deployed stop sticks, deflating the tires. The driver drove slowly into the ditch and stopped. The original K9 deputy and his partner, along with an additional K9 squad, pursued the two on foot, eventually apprehending them without further incident.
Both women, ages 34 and 42, were found in possession of THC and Schedule I and II Narcotics, and will be charged with Intent to Deliver those. Numerous other charges related to the chase and probation violations will also be addressed when the two appear in court for their initial hearings.
——UPDATE——-
Following their arrest, additional investigation indicated a third person, a male from Shawano, was also involved and on the loose. A homeowner tipped authorities about a possible contact and the man was located in the City of Oshkosh. The 33-year-old man is now also charged with fleeing and eluding and additional charges are possible.
Minor injuries were reported, but there was no property damage during the incident.
