Cindy Kay Wigdahl, 68, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully after a brief battle with cancer
on Monday, May 19, 2025, with her family by her side at Sharon S. Richardson Community
Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. Cindy was born on April 9, 1957, in Wichita Falls, TX to Derwin
Andrews and Jerry Lynn (Jemison) Cranfill. She graduated from Sherman High School in
Sherman, TX (‘75).
On December 27, 1981, she was united in marriage to Gene “Jeff” Wigdahl. They celebrated 43
joyful years together, and lovingly raised three children, Adam (Marie) Wigdahl, Courtney
(Randall Perry) Wigdahl-Perry, and Eric (Emily McNally) Wigdahl.
Cindy’s family was her world. She truly loved being a mom, and she treasured spending time
with her family. She was always active in what her children were doing, not only attending every
sporting event, play, and concert, but also serving on the PTA and pushing to get school
referendums passed for her community. Cindy wasn’t just a mother to her children, but to all of
their friends as well. The Wigdahl home was the place you went to hang out and be pampered
with a plate of fresh baked brownies, just to make you feel welcome. When Cindy later became
a grandmother, she found such joy in her precious grandbabies, and the feeling was mutual.
Even from afar, Nana was a strong presence of love and laughter, and it was clear to everyone
how much she and her grandchildren adored each other.
Life in Cindy’s eyes was an adventure. No matter where she was headed or what destination
awaited her, she was ready to embrace the journey. She enjoyed short trips to visit family as
much as traveling to Disney World or Europe – Cindy brought the fun and excitement with her
wherever she would go. Cindy loved spending time with friends, playing cards and winning trivia
games, and she enjoyed her flower garden, playing board games, listening to music, reading,
and watching movies and Broadway musicals. She was also a gifted artist, creating beautiful
paintings, crafts, and knitted items. Cindy was a true leader from her younger years on; she held
many roles in her high school Drama Club and on stage. She was also very active with the
Sheboygan Jaycettes in the past, serving as President for two years.
Cindy had a strong faith which allowed her to live and lead by example. Everyone who met her
marveled at how sweet and caring she could be. She was known for her generosity and
willingness to lend a hand. She worked in a number of administrative roles prior to serving as
the Church Administrator for First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan for 22 years, until her
retirement. Cindy was known as a problem-solver, and worked tirelessly to keep the church
running smoothly, whether working with local refugee families, helping church members during
difficult times, or making sure that sound and lights were covered for Sunday service.
Cindy would often comment to her family how she felt her cup was full and overflowing with
blessings. If you had the pleasure of knowing Cindy, she made sure to touch your life in some
way, and made sure you knew that you were special and important. She will be deeply missed
by all who knew and loved her.
Cindy is survived by Jeff and her children, as well as her grandchildren Jackson Perry and
Josiah and Anna Wigdahl, her sister Beckie (Freddie) Walker, sister Denise (Mark) Wright, and
brother Wayne (Marsha) Andrews, sister-in-law Missy Andrews, and several nieces, nephews,
other relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father Derwin Andrews, step-
father John Eaton, step-father Miller Cranfill, mother Jerry Cranfill, and brother Ray Andrews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at First United Lutheran
Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Dr., Sheboygan, with Pastor Heidi Borkenhagen officiating.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the church from
11:00 AM until the time of service. A live stream of service will also be available on the church's
website, firstunitedelca.org, via their YouTube channel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Cindy’s name to the Sheboygan County Cancer
Care Fund, Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, or Everytown for Gun Safety.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Cindy’s doctors and medical staff at
St. Nicholas Hospital, including the Cancer Center, and at Sharon S. Richardson Community
Hospice for their excellent care and guidance in recent months. The family is also deeply
grateful for all of their countless friends and family for their love, care, and support during this
difficult time.
